How to get ArcGIS running on your PC: The license agreement at ASU

Get the dongle (Sentinel Key) from GIS computing office. Jana Hutchins is the person to talk to: jana.hutchings@asu.edu

After installing the software on your computer, you have to install the License (also on the CD with the software). During the license installation, it will prompt you for the license file and ask if you have received it by email or fax.

To get the license file: ASU has a website for generating the file in text form:
http://www.myesri.com/sitelogin.htm
Email Jana Hutchins for the username and password.
The site will ask you which platform you are running; choose "NT" for all PC platforms.

Enter the number (begining with 371) from your Sentinel Key. Proceed to the next page and select the ArcGIS radio button. Proceed to the next page and select to have the file emailed to you. When you receive the file, save the attachment (.txt) somewhere familiar. Then, during the installation, you can browse for the license file.

Also, you will need a driver for the Sentinel Key. You can get it at:
http://www.rainbow.com/support/downloads.asp
Once you have the key, you have the license and software installed, and the key driver installed, restart the computer and you should be good to go.
