How to make your own color-ramp in ArcMap:
1) Open up a project
2) From the "Tools" menu, select "Styles" and then the submenu "Style Manager"
3) If you want to edit/create a color ramp for your own user profile, expand the directory with "your_user_name.style". Otherwise, to edit one of ESRI's built in styles, open the directory with "ESRI.style"
4) Select "Color Ramps"
5) To edit an existing ramp, double-click it. To make a new ramp, right-click in the color ramp box, and select "New". The following choices are given:
Choice Name |
Definition |
| Random Color Ramp | Creates a ramp based on limited criteria (min/max color, hue, and saturation values) |
| Multi-Part Color Ramp | Assemble a color ramp using a combination of Random and/or Preset and/or Algorithmic Color Ramps, or multiple ramps with varying criteria. Use Add/Remove & Up/Down Arrows to adjust. |
| Preset Color Ramp | Standard color ramp with 13 user-defined values. Select colors from color table, or click "more colors" to input RGB or CMYK or HSV colors. Combine multiple Present Color Ramps to use more than 13 values. |
| Algorithmic Color Ramp | True color stretch between 2 user-defined (color table or RGB) values. |
6) Select "OK" then "Close" to finish
7) When characterizing symbology in the ArcMap Layer Properties: Symbology window, your user-defined color ramps will appear in the choices listed. Mine appeared at the very top of the list, yours might vary.
